Last year, after graduating from high school, I decided not to go to university right away but to take a gap year first. So far, I have no regrets of taking a year off. When I decided to take a gap year, I also decided to go on a long travel. I didn’t know when, where and for how long, but I knew it was something I wanted to do. In this post I wrote about my gap year plans. It’s fun to see that my actual travel plans aren’t the same as I wrote in that post. So let’s talk about my plans.
When?: I’m leaving on the 8th of April, which is in less than a month. This scares and excites me at the same time. There still are things I need to arrange but I’m also very excited about leaving and exploring new countries and cities.
For how long?: I haven’t booked my flight back home yet, but I’ll probably be gone for two months.
Where?: I’ll start my journey in Oslo. I’ll stay there for 2 nights. After that, I’m flying to the USA. I’m visiting multiple cities. New York City, Philadelphia, Orlando, Los Angeles, Hawaii and San Francisco.
All by yourself?: Yes. I’m going on a solo trip. Something I have never done before. Of course it’s scary, at first, but I will be fine. I don’t mind being on my own but I won’t be on my own all the time. I’ll stay at hostels, just like many other solo travels do so I can connect with other travelers there. I’m also staying at a friend’s place a few nights and with family as well and might be meeting up with some bloggers and a friend.
What about your blog?: I don’t know how many times a week I’ll post. I’ll just see how it goes and if I feel like it. I want to enjoy my travel as much as possible so I don’t want to feel obligated to post or spend too much time behind my laptop. Blogging is something I love and I really want to share my experiences with you, so there won’t be a radio silence, but there also won’t be a post everyday. Maybe twice a week, like I said, I’ll see how it all goes. I’ve been working on a new travel blog where I’ll post updates by the way. More about that soon. The instagram account is @whereilliwandernext.
So yep. There’s that. I’m very excited about this trip. This is what I’ve been working for this year so I’m glad it’s almost happening. During those 2 months, I’ll probably get to know myself better, there’ll be ups and downs but it’s all part of it. Let’s do this!
Since I’ve never been to any of these cities, I’d be amazing if you have some tips for me! Have you ever been on a solo travel? I’d love to hear your experiences. If you have any questions, leave them in a comment, send me an email or contact me on other social media!
